Women In Business Honored
At today’s 9th Annual Women’s Business Network Luncheon Maria Tran of Golden Nugget was awarded for her leadership!
“She is a role model for all women and her energy and enthusiasm are contagious. She strives for excellence in all things and mentors her team members so that they can provide the highest level of service to customers.  In addition to her positive attitude and proven work abilities, she is committed to giving back to SWLA. She has volunteered with Special Olympics, American Cancer Society, St. Jude’s, Walk to End Alzheimer’s, Distance for Diabetes, Free to Breath, American Heart Association, and the Susan Komen Race for a Cure.  She is a member of Fusion Five and a recent graduate of Leadership Southwest. She has been named a Thriving Thirty by Thrive Magazine.
Working in a male dominated area, she has broken those barriers to become the only female restaurant manager at her company. She has worked in the hospitality and gaming industry for over 15 years, having been a part of the opening teams for three casinos.  At one point, she managed 9 food and beverage outlet plus a horse racetrack simultaneously. She has 3 bachelor’s degrees in Biology, Biochemistry and Psychology, and was also named runner up for the GM of the Year by Landry’s Restaurants. Her childhood mentor encouraged her to “go out and create positive results” which she does on a daily basis both in her professional and personal life. Her heart of gold and her many accomplishments to date make her, without a doubt, an Up and Coming Woman in Business in Southwest Louisiana.” – From the application submitted nominating her for this year’s award.
This year’s Established Business Leader was unable to attend today’s luncheon, so we will announce her award in next week’s e-newsletter.
Today’s luncheon took place at L’Auberge Casino Resort and featured Julie Laperouse, who posed the question: Are you a Screaming Peacock?  Julie Laperouse helped attendees put their “best feather forward” through training on topics such as networking, leadership, and team building.
