2018 Union Pacific Donation
The Alliance Foundation received a check in the amount of $5,000 from Union Pacific to support its initiatives. This donation is the 2018 grant from the Union Pacific Railroad Foundation to the SWLA Alliance Foundation’s SWLA on the Move campaign. The current plan of work under the SWLA on the Move campaign is to address the critical issues facing our region: workforce development, business recruitment, business retention and expansion, regional marketing, and building a single voice for a true regional partnership.

The Chamber and the SWLA Alliance Foundation are part of the Southwest Louisiana Economic Development Alliance. As part of the funding for the SWLA Economic Development Alliance, SWLA on the Move promotes economic development in Allen, Beauregard, Calcasieu, Cameron and Jeff Davis Parishes.
Louisiana Economic Development has launched a new program to connect small businesses with mentor companies that can provide technical and developmental assistance. The Mentor-Protégé Recognition Program seeks to assist small and emerging businesses, including those owned by minorities, women and veterans. Mentor companies participating in the program help build the capacity of protégé businesses to compete for public- and private-sector opportunities.
LED is currently accepting applications for protégé companies to enter the program. Applicants must be certified in LED’s Small and Emerging Business Development program and be in good standing with the Louisiana Secretary of State’s Office. The protégé pool is made available to mentor companies, and the mentors can select protégé companies at their discretion.
To apply to become part of the protégé pool, visit OpportunityLouisiana.com/MentorProtege.
10/12 Industry Report is launching 10/12 Industry Weekly—an enewsletter highlighting the latest happenings in the petrochemical, oil and gas, environmental and industrial construction industries, from Lake Charles to New Orleans.
10/12 Industry Weekly, which will be published online and sent to your inbox every Tuesday morning, will provide local and regional news from across the corridor; project updates; profiles and interviews with top industry executives; features on trends, projects and companies; analysis and viewpoints on key issues impacting industry; best practices and how-to tips for owners, plant managers and vendors; announcements of people and companies in industry recognized for their accomplishments; and more.
“This new weekly enewsletter complements our recently launched website 1012industryreport.com and our quarterly magazine—and allows us more options to keep our readers informed on the news of industry,” says 10/12 Industry Report Editor Sam Barnes. “We can even send alerts on breaking news.”
