Lake Charles Signs On for May 19 Nationwide Park Celebration

Hundreds of thousands of children nationwide, including in Lake Charles, will take part in a grassroots movement to discover America’s parks through play on Saturday, May 19, to commemorate Kids to Parks Day.

A commemorative Kids to Parks Day is being planned for Lake Charles at Millennium Park, Bord Du Lac Drive, from 12 to 3 p.m.  Activities will include face painting, balloons, fun jumps, train rides, connect 4, bowling, coloring activities, splash pads, along with free snow cones, popcorn and cotton candy.

Mayor Nic Hunter recently proclaimed Kids to Parks Day in Lake Charles and encourages locals to participate by exploring Millennium Park and other public parks within the city.

“Our parks located throughout the city give kids of all ages a place to enjoy the outdoors. Parks provide a space for neighborhood residents to interact with each other and meet new people. We’ve recently begun hosting Midnight Basketball and Teen Connection in some of our parks and community centers in order to offer recreational and learning opportunities for youth.  I invite all Lake Charles residents to join me on May 19 for Kids to Parks Day,” said Mayor Hunter.

Everyone is invited to this and all other City of Lake Charles parks and outdoor spaces. Visit the City of Lake Charles website for more information.
